Urban American Outdoors Fishing Derby's

Urban American Outdoors is a television program created by Wayne Hubbard and Candice Price and is based out of Kansas City. It is a reality sports adventure show that airs on Time Warner Metro Sports locally and on other Cable and Satellite Networks nationally. UAO has won over 20 nationally and internationally Broadcast Awards. Urban American Outdoors has mass crossover appeal reaching the traditional outdoors market as well the underserved and disadvantaged communities. The show not only shares the enjoyment of being outdoors, it also educates and tells the importance of conservation and preserving the heritage of hunting and fishing from a different perspective.
Urban American Outdoors has been doing an urban outreach program for both youth and adults alike to share in the outdoor experience. Our results have all been successful in bringing someone new into a world they may have had misconceptions with, because of how it had been previously portrayed. Wayne Hubbard the host and avid outdoorsman has been mentoring for quite a while promoting outdoors, conservation and having fun with the family. Working with Urban American Outdoors can connect you to an audience that may have been unaware of the beauty of the outdoors that surrounds them.
Urban American Outdoors and the Kansas City Missouri Parks and Rec had a successful urban fishing derby on July 29, 2006 which will become an annual event. It was held at the pond in Spring Valley Park located in the heart of the city. There were over 250 people in attendance made up of volunteers, city officials and most importantly the families. Fathers and Mothers were there, with their children in toll, some for the very first time to fish. This will be a lifetime memory for many of these families and that’s what we hope to continue making for all…great memories of having fun in their city park.
Urban American Outdoors is committed to continue our collaboration with Mark Bowland and Kansas City Missouri Parks and Rec and we will also be available to bring our fishing experience to the other National City Park Systems. One of the unique factors with our fishing derby’s is that we custom design them to fit the urban core. In addition we host, film and air the derby nationally. Our derbies energize the community by giving them an activity that their entire family can participate in and the opportunity to utilize the park in a positive manner. This creates a win win situation for all parties involved. We look forward to taking this partnership to the next level. We believe all Americans should be included in the responsibility of stewardship of our natural resources and we think this is a great start to getting families involved and taking back our parks.
